This project stemmed from the client’s need to enhance two hitherto inadequately used rooms by using them as a library and STEM classroom, taking the opportunity to align the design and educational approach to a school 4.0 model with a customized workspace design project. The work was centered around maximizing the use of floor space, yet keeping the environments livable and comfortable through skillful balancing of spaces and a preference for large, shared tables.
The method
In the creation of workspace design processes, Wacebo collaborates with distributors, retailers and partners to form a comprehensive network to meet customer needs. This cooperative approach creates synergies that revolutionize the world of education, consolidating a cutting-edge educational vision that is attentive to the needs of students and anticipates the needs of the world of work.
This path starts with an inspection by the distributor, retailer, or area partner, who interfaces with the institution’s contact person to understand their needs and vision, and who maps the environment with measurements and photographs. Based on this information, we create a design to be submitted to the client and, once refined based on feedback and approved, to be implemented.
Keyword: versatility
We created a multipurpose environment for the library, so the furniture and technology choices were
made with versatility in mind, creating spaces for storage and sharing, supported by interactive monitors for digital reference and research. For the STEM classroom we have created stations with a large surface area that encourage sharing and collaboration and specifically four six-seat islands; in this environment the teacher will use a mobile lectern, thus abolishing frontality and hierarchy and taking on more of a moderator and consultant.
Interactive monitors
Interactive monitors are a must in educational contexts, supporting to the digitization of teaching and becoming the evolving nature of the interactive whiteboard; this technology makes it possible to digitize lessons in classrooms, while in multi-purpose spaces it offers a single solution to multiple needs.
Multifunctional furniture
In the realization of our designs we draw on a large catalog of modern ergonomic furniture solutions, designed to make comfortable environments in which people spend a significant part of their days, and versatile, which can be combined in a modular way and perform several functions at once.
