Today, we’re delighted to introduce Maria, Director of Wacebo UK Ltd. With a background spanning multiple industries and a strong passion for innovation, Maria plays a key role in our international growth. In this interview, she shares her journey, her vision, and what motivates her each day in the EdTech sector.
Let’s start with you: describe yourself in three words.
Resilient, compassionate, ambitious.
What’s your role at Wacebo, and what do you do?
I’m the Director of Wacebo UK Ltd. My role is to ensure the company complies with legal and regulatory requirements, while also overseeing key business operations, always aligned with our vision, mission, and long-term goals.
How did you enter the EdTech sector? Was it a conscious choice?
To be honest, it was a complete discovery. Throughout my career, I’ve worked in various sectors - online retail, gaming, dental -, always with a strong interest in technology. EdTech came along unexpectedly, but it immediately resonated with me.
What made you want to join Wacebo?
While looking for a new chapter in my professional journey, I came across Wacebo. I was instantly drawn to its mission and vision, which strongly aligned with my own values.
What aspect of your work are you most passionate about?
Being part of a team where every individual is valued. I’m proud to play a meaningful role in the company’s international expansion.
What motivates you in your daily work?
The belief that every small step we take today can lead to a bigger success in the future.
In your view, how has the EdTech world evolved in recent years?
The EdTech sector has grown exponentially. The integration of technology in education has helped bridge gaps in learning—especially when it comes to inclusivity and accessibility. Education is now more adaptive and student-focused.
What do you think are the main needs of schools today?
I believe schools now need to better understand how technology can make a real difference for every student, preparing them not just for future careers but for life in general.
Which Wacebo product would you recommend to every school without hesitation?

What technologies do you think we’ll see more of in schools in the coming years?
I believe we’ll see increasing use of technologies that support students with special educational needs - making learning even more inclusive and accessible.
How do you imagine education 10 years from now?
More accessible in every sense, and even more forward-thinking.
If you weren’t working in EdTech, which sector would you choose?
Tourism! I love travelling and discovering new cultures.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone entering the EdTech field?
Always stay open to change: this sector evolves rapidly.
